The Faculty Appreciation Banquet is a chance for students to recognize professors for excellence in teaching. Since 2000, the Faculty Appreciation Banquet has been a way to thank professors for their service to students and the University. After nominations are sought from the general student population, the Student Alumni Board, Associated Student Government and Residents' Interhall Congress work closely to determine the top of these distinguished professors and honor them with the Teachers of the Year award.
Selected faculty members and students who nominate them are invited to the banquet in recognition of their achievements. The 11th annual Faculty Appreciation Banquet was held on March 9th, 2010 and included distinguished guest speakers, G. David Gearhart, Chancellor, and Sharon Gaber, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Professor Gerald Jordan served as the key note speaker and is a 2003 Teacher of the Year Award recipient and currently serves as the Arkansas Alumni Association Board of Directors president.
