LAS MEMBERSHIP
Founded in 2011, the Latino Alumni Society (LAS) works to serve and recognize Latino students, bring together friends and the community, and engage faculty and staff at the University of Arkansas. LAS is seeking energetic University of Arkansas alumni to join the board of director to helps us grow and continue to make a positive impact. We invite you to become engaged and welcome your ideas as we continue our work of serving our Latino community.

The Latino Alumni Society awards six awards to recognize Latina/o alumni. Recipients will be honored annually at Méritos Latinos held on the Friday prior to commencement each spring semester. Nominations for the 2024 awards cycle will be accepted from March 6 - April 19, 2024. Recipients will be recognized at Méritos Latinos on May 10, 2024.
NOMINATE
The purpose of this award is to recognize any person whose work has significantly elevated the voice of Latina/o students at the University of Arkansas and who has held a deep commitment for equity and inclusion of the student body. The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual who has served as a mentor to a Latina/o University of Arkansas student or alumni. The purpose of this award is to recognize a Latina/o business owner who is also a University of Arkansas Latina/o alumni and who has contributed to the development and economic growth of the Northwest Arkansas region. Cecilia Grossberger-Medina of Fayetteville is the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications for New Student & Family Programs at the University of Arkansas. She is a native of Cochabamba, Bolivia, and has lived in Fayetteville since 1999.
Antonio Garcia is a native of Rogers, Arkansas. Garcia majored in Political Science and International Relations and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2016 from the University of Arkansas.
Gladys del Rocio Greenwood is originally from Lima, Peru and currently works as a site coordinator of Sin Límites for two public schools and as a Spanish instructor at the University of Arkansas. She is a member of AFTLA and Sigma Delta Pi, the National Spanish Honor Society.
Rafael Arciga Garcia, M. Ed., is the assistant dean for diversity recruitment for the University of Arkansas Office of Admissions. He coordinates student recruitment and outreach to underrepresented students throughout the state of Arkansas.
Ramon Balderas is a Student Development Specialist at Student Support Services in the Department of Student Affairs at the University of Arkansas.
