Johnson Fellows

    Endowed by Dr. Jeff Johnson, BA’70, and his wife, Marcia, the Johnson Fellows program was created for the specific purpose of bringing esteemed alumni back to the University of Arkansas campus to engage and inspire students. The program was created in 2009 and has included three recipients: Lt. Gen. Martin R. Steele BA’74, U.S. Marine Corps (retired); Regina Hopper BA’81, JD’85, president and CEO of America’s Natural Gas Alliance; and John Forrest Ales BA’02, senior director of global brand public relations for Hilton Hotels & Resorts.




    2013 Johnson Fellow - Amy Tu, J.D. '96, is a University of Arkansas School of Law graduate from Fayetteville Arkansas. The 2013 Johnson Fellow program is scheduled for April 3-4, 2013. Ms. Tu currently serves as Chief Counsel for Boeing, Commercial Aviation Services.

    Amy Tu, J.D. '96

    2012 Johnson Fellow - John Forrest Ales, B.A.’02, is the senior director of global brand public relations for Hilton Hotels & Resorts. Ales holds a Master of Arts in strategic public relations from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism/public relations, minor in political science, from the University of Arkansas.

    2011 Johnson Fellow - Regina Hopper, a Springdale native and 1983 Miss Arkansas, spoke to journalism and law students about her career experiences. An Emmy award-winning journalist, Hopper is now president and CEO of America's Natural Gas Alliance in Washington, D.C.

    Born in Philadelphia, Pa., and raised in Fayetteville, Steele enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 1965. He culminated his military career as the deputy chief of staff for plans, policies and operations at the headquarters of the U.S. Marine Corps in Washington, D.C., in August 1999.
